London family photography of the watery, sun-creamy kind. Take a look at this classic ‘summer of 2018’ Portrait of Play session in a garden of pure fun!
London Family Photography
When two like-minded souls get together, a funny thing happens. I mean… FUN happens. And in this particular instance, lots of watery-garden-based antics involving ice-lollies, plastic animals and… dust pans and brushes. So, hang out in the garden for an afternoon session for two. This is a great example of a family photography session that focusses on intuitive and shared play.
Mutual moments – captured
Documentary photo sessions can be an amazing way to capture the spontaneity and effervescence of the play that two kids create together. They are are also a brilliant way of capturing the early bonds between siblings, cousins or friends. With this two however, it was almost like watching old friends!
Relaxation for grownups
This particular session took place entirely in the garden, with parents hanging out with the kids and having fun too – but not needing to worry about performing for the camera themselves in any way. As you can see from the selection of images below, a fair few shots include the grownups: feeling relaxed, being themselves and enjoying the real atmosphere of their real day. This is where documentary family photography really comes into its own. And why and how it can show you in years to come, just how magical your real life has been.
And of course, the animals all needed taking care of in the hot weather…
Curious about family sessions?
Sessions can be with any child of any age, with any combination of parents, siblings, aunts, uncles grandparents etc. either joining in on the fun, or simply having a cup of tea whilst water gets splashed and stuff gets made, and destroyed, and made again…
As a family photographer in London I am fascinated by the many different forms that play can take across families and across different stages of growth and development. And my own kid constantly keeps me guessing about which direction his play will go next!
For all the details on sessions, look on the dedicated family photography page to see how it can work for your child.
